I blew it again!
Despite my best efforts for the last couple months, I blew it. On Valentines day no less! I had a long day. I had been up since 4am, worked all day, then prepared a special family Valentines meal. I was exhausted. I needed a rest. Right then is when my son discovered ants. Thousands of ants! They were all over the kitchen cabinet attracted to an old bottle of honey that had leaked.
At my wits end and out of energy I asked my wife to deal with it. We’ve recently discussed keeping honey and maple syrup in the fridge to prevent this so I wasn’t particularly excited that we had a new infestation. Perhaps my words were not affirming. Perhaps they were critical. It was high stakes (Valentines Day) and I’m proud that it didn’t turn into a category 5 marital storm but I certainly didn’t handle it well.
How do you handle such a situation? I blew it this time but I’m interested in how to do better next time.
