Here is my next installment of the John Gottman Principle #2 Fondness and Admiration Challenge!
Week 3, Day 3:
- Thought: I remember many details about deciding to get married.
- Task: Write a sentence describing what you remember.
- Response: I remember working through some big ticket issues (belief in God, have kids or not, etc) when deciding to get married.
- Reaction: The process and communication of working through those early things in our marriage prepared us for how life together is. That we worked through those was valuable in preparing us for life 20 years later. When I shared what I remembered, she remembered the same. I can’t remember the exact time or place I finally made the decision to propose because it was a bit of a longer process.
