Fondness and Admiration Challenge: Week 2, Day 3

Here is my next installment of the John Gottman Principle #2 Fondness and Admiration Challenge

Week 2, Day 3:

  1. Thought: We have common goals.
  2. Task: List one such goal.
  3. Response: We’ve had many common goals in 20 yers. For this challenge, I asked what our current goals were. It was too big of a question for the time we were talking but I thanked her for being awesome in sharing so many goals in our marriage and that I looked forward to the next. Then I prayed with her, thanking God for all we’ve done together and asking His blessing on our next endeavors, whatever they may be.
  4. Reaction: As we’re into week #2 of this challenge now, it has become clear that documenting “reactions” daily may not be the correct approach. When doing these tasks, I think the idea is far less about daily reactions but more about what you are building over a long period of time. Like a savings account, we’re making many small deposits and building wealth over time. I’ll keep the section for now, but it’s clear that some days reactions are minimal (and that’s okay) but the results over seven weeks might be surprising.
