Are you a good listener?

Being a good listener and being a good speaker of affirming words are closely linked (in my experience). Speaking the Words of Affirmation love language requires a keen ear to tune in to what your partner is saying, and craving. It also pays to be a good listener to the affirming words other people use that makes them light up. Be genuine, but closely observe what other people say that makes your partner’s day. They’re likely telling you about it:

“So and so said I looked good today!”

“Look at this awesome thank you card I got today!”

“Such and such paid me the nicest compliment.”

This is also noted in Proverbs:

Let’s do a better job of listening! This can look like simply listening to the words your WoA spouse is saying, what their needs are saying, or what they’re telling you about words others are using with them.
