Weigh your answers!

I am the king of snide answers to questions my WoA spouse asks. Some are sarcastic and intended to be funny but some frequently go too far. Proverbs has some wisdom:

The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. Proverbs 15:28

My takeaway from this is that I need to be more careful of my answers even to everyday questions where I would tend to be snide or sarcastic. When I take a moment to weigh my answer, I consider the impact on my WoA spouse and do much better in affirming her with my response.

Don’t end up gushing evil. This comes (for me) when things that may start small escalate quickly until I say something that I really don’t mean at all. What may start with a small snide response or snarky attitude toward my spouse ends up escalating into something truly hurtful that I never had any intention of saying.
